This spring we're offering the first four courses in an interdisciplinary series that will culminate in a showcase event during the 2025-2026 season.
All workshops are designed to help build confidence and know-how in various aspects of theater production and should help people who may want to volunteer with GTW and beyond to help fill out production teams. The first four sessions are:
Intro to Microphone Operation with Max Lessard One session (2 dates offered) -- Mondays May 12 & May 19 Join Max to learn how to set up a basic wireless microphone array, connect it to the sound board, manage microphones for actors, and run the mic board during performance.
Lighting Overview for the Byfield Community Arts Center with Mike Zupancic Once per week for two weeks -- Mondays June 2 & June 9 Join Mike to get a primer on basic lighting principles, get familiar with the LED lighting array at the BCAC, how to plan for and create various effects with the built in lighting system at our venue, and program and run the light board.
Effective Production Management with Mary-Liz Murray Once per week for two weeks -- Mondays June 16 & 23 Join Mary-Liz to get an overview of the role of a producer/production manager and how to keep a show running smoothly including understanding a producer's role in each show, how to build timelines and production schedules, managing the production budget, and insights into offering strong support for Directors, staff, and cast.
Costume Design & Wardrobe Management on a Budget with Kris Reynolds Once per week for two weeks -- Mondays June 30 & July 7 Join Kris to get insights, tips, and tactics for costume design and wardrobe management including information on costume sourcing (borrowing, buying, and beyond), managing fittings and actor needs, working with production teams and getting the most out of contemporary clothing items for all kinds of productions.
